10/1/2014 0 Comments Retirement Assets Top $24 TrillionAccording to the Investment Company Institute (ICI), retirement assets inched up to a record $24 trillion in the 2nd quarter of 2014. This represents asset growth over the prior quarter across all categories. IRA assets are up from $6.9 trillion to $7.2 trillion. DC plans grew from $6.4 trillion to $6.6 trillion. Even the oft-maligned DB plan grew, from $3.1 to $3.2 trillion in the private sector, and from $5.0 to $5.1 trillion among governmental plans. Since 2000, retirement assets have more than doubled, from $11.6 trillion to $24.0 trillion.
